Clay Buchholz, Boston Red Sox- Beats Dodgers, Gets 10th Win of Year

Josh Beckett who? After a wobbly start, Clay Buchholz settled down and beat the Los Angeles Dodgers Sunday night for his co- AL best 10th win of the year. He’s now won 7 of his last 8 outings and looks increasingly more poised on the mound.

With 10 wins, a 2.47 ERA, and 1.24 WHIP, Buchholz has significantly outperformed his average draft position. He has teamed with Jon Lester to form a new ‘top two’ in the Red Sox rotation.

Forecast- Promising. A modest 2010 strikeout rate (6.1 K/9) prevents Buchholz from reaching elite fantasy starting pitcher status, but he’s pitching deeper into games, which should help wins total to keep climbing. Look for a higher, but solid 3.5ish ERA the rest of the way.

Carlos Santana, Cleveland Indians- Top Prospect Hits 2nd Home Run

Carlos was clearly the best Santana on Sunday. Batting lefty, the switch-hitting slugger lined a laser into the right field seats and was 1 hit short of the cycle. In his first 9 major league games, the 24 year-old catching stud is hitting .393 with 2 HRs and 8 RBIs.
